For horror fans of a certain age, Beetlejuice is a comforting blast of nostalgia. The feature film and its accompanying animated series introduced countless kids to the weird world of horror. Now, decades after the Ghost with the Most first hit screens, we’re finally getting a sequel. Beetlejuice 2 will hit theaters on September 6th.

At the moment, we don’t know anything about the plot of Beetlejuice 2. With the film’s release only months away, we haven’t even seen official images from the movie. However, we do have a few snaps that give us a look at star Jenna Ortega on the set.

First Look at Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice 2

The movie’s IMDb lists Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s Daughter which doesn’t tell us much. A handful of photos surfaced on Twitter giving us a glimpse at the ongoing production of Beetlejuice 2. More importantly, it sheds a pinprick of light on the plot. It looks like Lydia’s Daughter is getting hitched.

This BTS shot gives us a clue about what kind of character Ortega is playing. It seems that she inherited some of her mom’s style and probably her attitude. Check out those killer white boots with pink laces under her wedding gown.

The Bio-Exorcist Returns

It has been a long hard road out of development hell for Beetlejuice 2. In the early nineties Jonathan Gems signed on to write Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. However, that project never came to fruition, according to Jo Blo. Studios tried to get several writers, including Kevin Smith to create a new script. Some, like Pamela Norris and Seth Grahame-Smith, actually wrote new scripts. None of those made it to production.

Fittingly, Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Miller penned the final screenplay for the Beetlejuice sequel. Wednesday lead Jenna Ortega will star in the upcoming film alongside returning cast members Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton.

We’ll be chanting Beetlejuice’s name and crossing our fingers for more information about this long-awaited sequel.
