The fifth installment of the Insidious horror movie franchise hit theaters earlier this summer. When it did, fans of the franchise came out in droves making it a box office hit. In short, it was a win for fans of the films and the genre as a whole. Now, you can relive the fear of The Red Door or turn the key for the first time in the comfort of your home.

If you’re looking for a new scary movie to stream this weekend, Insidious: The Red Door might be the answer. The movie is currently available for premium VOD rental on Vudu, Apple, Amazon, and more. If you’re one of those horror fans who would rather buy physical media, you’ll have to wait. The movie is slated for a Blu-Ray and DVD release on September 28^th.

For fans of the franchise, it will be worth the wait. For starters, the fifth and allegedly final installment of the franchise sees the original cast return. Additionally, star Patrick Wilson is making his directorial debut.

The physical release will include a pair of featurettes: Past, Present, Future and A Possessed Director. At the moment, details on the featurettes are scarce. However, they both sound like deeper dives into the already-knee-deep lore of the franchise.

Wilson has one hell of a resume as an actor. The Red Door will be his fourth turn as Josh Lambert in the Insidious franchise. Modern horror fans also know Wilson from his time as Ed Warren in the Conjuring universe. It will be interesting to see how his experience under some top-notch directors will shape his approach to the craft.
