47 Meters Down Sinks its Teeth into a Sequel with 47 Meters Down: Uncaged

    Fans of the hit horror film 47 Meters Down will delight in the news that a sequel is underway, entitled 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Here is the official synopsis, provided by Upcoming Horror Movies:

 

    [47 Meters Down: Uncaged] takes place in the backpacking mecca of Brazil, against the backdrop of the country’s vibrant culture, party atmosphere and beautiful beaches. A group of five girls from different backgrounds and countries are united by their lust for life and adventure in the coastal metropolis of Recife. Looking to get off the well-worn tourist trail, they hear about a hidden underwater ruin from a local guide and seize the opportunity to discover their own Atlantis beneath the turquoise waves. Unbeknownst to them, the caves where the forgotten city ies are not completely uninhabited, and as they swim deeper into the submerged labyrinth of caves they enter the territory of the deadliest shark species in the ocean.

   

    The movie stars Corinne Fox, John Corbett (The Messengers, The Boy Next Door), Sophie Nélisse (Wait Till Helen Comes), Nia Long (Stigmata, Buried Alive), Sistine Stallone, Khylin Rhambo (Teen Wolf  TV series), Davi Santos (Tell Me a Story TV series), and Brianne Tju (Scream: The TV Series, iZombie TV series). Johannes Roberts has returned as both the co-writer and director.

 

    The film promises to deliver an immersive underwater horror experience. According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Harris (from the movie’s production studio, The Fyzz Facility) revealed that 47 Meters Down: Uncaged “will take the claustrophobia of cave diving and the thrill of shark encounters and move everything to the next level.”

 

The movie is currently filming in the Dominican Republic, and will be released in theaters on June 28, 2019.
