“The Conjuring” is Set to Become a TV Series on HBO Max

HBO Max has exciting news for horror fans: a TV series based on New Line Cinema’s “The Conjuring” universe is in the works. This announcement was made during Warner Bros. Discovery’s event for their new Max streaming service in Los Angeles.

The upcoming “Conjuring” TV series will expand on the stories from the popular films. Peter Safran is set to executive produce the series through The Safran Company. James Wan, the mastermind behind several “Conjuring” movies, is also in talks to executive produce. The series will be produced by Wan’s Atomic Monster Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television.

Safran, who has an overall deal with Warner Bros., also oversees DC Comics properties for Warner Bros. Discovery alongside James Gunn. Both began their roles on November 1 and report to Warner Bros. Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav. They work closely with Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-chairpersons and CEOs of Warner Bros. Film Group. Safran is also known for producing “Aquaman,” the highest-grossing DC film, which earned $1.15 billion worldwide.

“The Conjuring” franchise, which includes hits like “The Conjuring,” “Annabelle,” “The Conjuring 2,” “Annabelle: Creation,” “The Nun,” “Annabelle Comes Home,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” has collectively grossed over $2 billion globally. The next installment, “The Nun 2,” is scheduled to be released on September 8, 2023.
