PLOT SYNOPSIS:
An adopted woman returns to her home country and the family home that she never knew and must face the mystery that lies there. In 1966, somewhere in Russia, a wounded woman drives a truck to an isolated farm with two babies. Forty years later, the child travels back to her homeland in the wilderness of Russia, where she meets up with her twin. The twins end up trapped, terrified, and haunted by zombie-like ghosts of themselves.

FROM THE CRITICS:
“Much of the movie is comprised of extremely bloody and/or gory imagery, including gruesome scenes where a father stabs his wife repeatedly, tries to drown his infant daughter, and feeds his infant boy to pigs.”  — Screen It!
“Artily shot and artfully edited, it makes the most of its setting, a desolate island somewhere in the Russian hinterland, where the sun shines for about 20 minutes each day…”  — The New York Times
By the film’s downbeat climax, Cerda’s dread of death and uncertainty about digging too deeply into what’s better left buried have become palpable, and THE ABANDONED lingers beneath the skin as any decent horror movie should.”  — TV Guide
The pic’s brand of arty, surreal Euro-horror is more beloved by cultists than teenage mallrats.”  — Variety
