Super Bowl LIV

Well, another football season has come to an end. It ended last Sunday night with Tom Brady winning yet another Super Bowl title and Super Bowl MVP. Whether you love him or hate him, you have to give credit where credit is due. The man can flat out get it done in the big game. He didn’t do anything spectacular but he also did not do anything stupid to lose the game against the Chiefs.  This was truly a team game. The Buccaneer defense ran roughshod all over the Chiefs. The game was entertaining but the Chiefs were out of it at halftime. Although, Mahomes pulled of some spectacular throws that his receivers dropped they just could not put any points on the board.

People asked me for weeks who I was going to bet on. I was undecided until gameday. I just could not bet against Brady. He won me a few hundred bucks this postseason, so why would I bet against him now? Most folks I talked to said Mahomes is the one to beat Brady and this is the passing of the torch for the Super Bowl. Mahomes is the most electrifying player in the NFL right now. Possibly ever. It seemed that everyone forgot about his Turf Toe injury that he has been dealing with since the AFC Championship game. It sounds like a sissy injury but I have known folks that have had it and they have said that it was extremely painful. When you are a mobile QB like Mahomes you need both feet and legs 100% healthy.

Even with his turf toe he still is better than most QB’s in the NFL. But he needed to be 100% healthy to escape what the Bucs defense brought against him. Todd Bowles called a near perfect game for The Bucs defense. It did not help that the Chiefs were missing two key offensive lineman. The old saying goes “Defense wins Championships”. That has never been more true than this installment of the Super Bowl.

I have seen and heard on social media of people complaining that it was a terrible game. That was simply not true. Also seen and heard folks saying that the game was “rigged”. Grown ass men are actually thinking that the biggest game with the largest TV audience was “rigged”. It’s hard to believe that people are that damn ignorant! This game was not rigged. It never has been and it never will be.

What it boils down to is that Tom Brady is the GOAT. People are mad because he knows how to win and has proven it time and time again. I am NOT a Tom Brady fan but I respect what he has done on the field. Half of his career he had been to the Super Bowl. He has played in 18% of all Super Bowls played. One has to admit that stat is impressive.

Tom Brady now has 7 championships. Most of any player in the NFL. As far as team sports goes, Bill Russell has 11 NBA titles, Maurice Richard has 11 NHL titles and Yogi Berra has 10 World Series titles. But none of them and I mean NONE of them has as many as “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair! 16 times your World Heavyweight Champion. Good luck catching Slick Ric, gentleman! you will need it.

Now that my favorite season is over it’s time to switch gears to the road to WRESTLEMANIA!!!!!
