Twilight Meets The Lost Boys

At around 5:00 this morning I woke up, couldn’t fall back to sleep so I started skimming my social medias. Well the horror community is a buzz with the news that Catherine Hardwicke is going to direct the pilot of the new The Lost Boys TV show. Then I really couldnt sleep, because the comments on these posts were nothing but ripping into Hardwicke’s directorial past.
If you’re not familiar with Hardwicke.  She directed the 3rd installment of the Twilight films. Undeniably it is the shit filling in a shit sandwich. I’m not trying to defend it by any means, but it did get me to thinking. How long does a director have to stay in director prison?
I can only imagine how tightly her hands were tied by the studios involvement in the making of the biggest franchise in teen girl history. Picture being a director and being given the mega budget and the enormous pressure that you knew millions of hypnotized teens and their mothers were guaranteed to shell out cash for your film.
Hardwicke isn’t the first director to go to director prison. M. Night Shyamalan was in there for years after Lady In The Water and the live action Avatar, but he was able to escape with his come back film The Visit.
What I’m really trying to get at here is throw caution to the wind and give Hardwicke a chance. It’s women in horror film month after all and The Lost Boys tv show could be the new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Oh, by the way the Frog Brothers are speculated to be the Frog Sisters.
(Drops the article and backs away slowly.)
