Toxic Avenger Reboot in the Works

Legendary Entertainment, the company that helped bring such blockbusters as the Dark Knight trilogy and movies like BlacKKKlansman, WarCraft, Straight Outta Compton, and Krampus has acquired the rights to The Toxic Avenger. That’s right! Toxie could becoming back with a fat budget!

Stick with me here, man. I know that Legendary really a hit or miss company that has a ton of throw away action flicks that are more style than substance but you gotta keep in mind that this is the same company that brought us good shit like Trick‘r Treat, As Above/So Below, and The Town. Point is, they can throw enough money at Toxie to get a team that will do him some big screen justice. If that doesn’t put your mind at ease, Troma Entertainment’s founder and co-founder,Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, will be on board as producers. No news as of yet about who will be writing or directing but Legendary are moving forward with production.

Personally,I’ll be a helluva lot more excited when they attach a writer and director to the project.  I really think it would do well in the current market. Big budget horror is doing well in the box office lately and the big money is on super hero flicks. The Toxic Avenger ticks both of those boxes. It’s a risky move, but if it’s done right I think it could make some money and maybe open a few doors. At the very least it’ll introduce a new generation to the greatness that is Toxie and hopefully the rest of the Troma library.

This is one I plan to keep my eye on, so stay tuned!
