Hello and good morning fellow horror fans. If you’ve been with us for awhile you’ll know that there is an indie film growing from the fertile soils of Middle Tennessee that I cannot wait to lay my eyes on and that movie is Chicken’s Blood. This is one of the rare occasions that I get a little more pumped for it with each new update and the one we got this morning is no exception: we know who will be handling the cover art.
I’m sure you’re wondering why that would be exciting and I’m going to tell you why. I love the hand painted cover art from old school exploitation films. Whether it had anything to do with what the movie was actually about or not, the covers always looked great. Think of films like Cannibal Holocaust, Eyes without a Face, and more recently Hobo with a Shotgun. These movies are nestled comfortably behind a bonafide piece of art. That is why I am so excited to hear who is handling the cover art for Chicken’s Blood. The face of this homegrown horror flick will be handled by Simon Pritchard, an artist known for doing hand painted exploitation film cover work. You can check out his work here and see just what I mean.
Getting someone like this as opposed to an digital artist or some in-house design guy really goes to show the level of care that is being taken with this project. If they have gone this far to make the outside of the film look good, just imagine what lies in store for us when we put that disk in and hit play. Get excited, Chicken’s Blood will spill soon.
