Lunch Ladies tells the tale of two high school lunch ladies who are fed up with their job and are working hard toward their ultimate goal: becoming Johnny Depp’s personal chefs. Even the best cooks can’t make great food if their ingredients are shit, so the principal threatens to fire them over their subpar lunches. Also, high school kids are the fucking worst. With their jobs, their dream, and everything else on the line, the Depp obsessed duo has to pull a rabbit out of their hairnets. Luckily they get a little help from an unexpected source.
Hi my name is Yeti, and I have a problem. I’m addicted to quirky horror comedies. I have been off of them since I reviewed Headalmost a month ago. Lately the cravings have been getting to me and today, well, today I relapsed. It was just a short though. And you know what? Frankly, I’d rather be off the wagon than miss something this good. In twenty minutes Lunch Ladies was able to tick all my boxes and then some. This one has a creative kill, some good gore, some laughs, and a Big Lebowski reference. You put that in a big ol’ steel pot, add some solid writing, some good acting, a couple dashes of originality, and simmer it all on medium heat for a little under half an hour and you got yourself on hell of a short film.
All in all, would I recommend this movie? Without a doubt! It’s incredibly fun and original. I seriously don’t think you’d be able to watch this one and have a bad time. Unless you were doing acid. Don’t do acid and watch this movie. Or do. Whatever man, it’s your trip. Anyway, as soon as you get a chance, you need to check this out. It’s currently kicking ass through some festivals and hopefully it’ll be available to the masses soon. If you knew what I knew, you’d be hungry for Lunch Ladies. Trust me.
